On Saturday, May 17, 2025, Climate YES recently convened a one-day hybrid leadership gathering in different countries, bringing together country hub leaders. The event saw 88 people from 9 country hubs of Zambia, South Africa, Eswatini, Lesotho, Botswana, South Sudan, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, and Malawi, Rwanda, and the DRC were in attendance virtually.
Fifty three passionate young people from churches across South Africa, Lesotho, and Botswana came together for an unforgettable four-day Climate Justice Bootcamp at the Golden Gate Wel Geoff Youth Centre from December 3rd to 6th Dec.
Climate YES proudly joined the Rising Tide Climate Justice Festival Week in Manchester, from September 22 to 29, 2024. This event brought together young Christian climate activists globally, all committed to environmental stewardship and justice. Our goal was to hold world leaders accountable for their COP26 promises and highlight the vital link between faith and climate action.
On the 9th and 10th of May 2024, the United Nations organised a civil society conference in Nairobi which attracted around 3,000 people in preparation for the summit of the future which aims to create the conditions in which implementation of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development can be readily achieved, the summit will be held in September 2024.
On the 2nd and 3rd of August 2024, the South Africa Climate Action Network, the Global Shapers Community: Tshwane Hub, and the African Climate Reality Project hosted the Local Conferences of Youth (LCOY) South Africa 2024.
On Monday 17 June 2024 , 43 young people from the ecumenical joined the Climate YES one day workshop on Generational Restoration under climate justice.
The young people of Climate YES were invited to attend the Continental Capacity Building and Roundtable of the Africa Faith Actors Network for Climate Justice in Nairobi Kenya from 27th to 29th August 2024. Four youths from Eswatini, Kenya, Uganda, and Zambia participated in the meeting, representing the different hubs.
As we look ahead to #COP29, my time at RCOY Southern Africa reaffirmed my commitment to youth leadership in climate advocacy, particularly through faith-based initiatives. This journey will be instrumental in advancing ClimateYES's mission to blend faith and climate justice, ensuring that young voices remain at the forefront of the global climate agenda.
