Climate YES Leadership training
On Saturday, May 17, 2025, Climate YES recently convened a one-day hybrid leadership gathering in different countries, bringing together country hub leaders. The event saw 88 people from 9 country hubs of Zambia, South Africa, Eswatini, Lesotho, Botswana, South Sudan, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, and Malawi, Rwanda, and the DRC were in attendance virtually.
The gathering was designed to address the critical need for coordinated action in the face of intensifying climate challenges. While Climate YES has established a strong foundation of hubs in multiple countries, the organization recognized that many leaders were working in isolation, missing crucial opportunities for cross-learning and strategic alignment. This meeting was about strengthening our collective capacity for movement building, ensuring that our leaders are equipped to create greater impact
A key focus of the event was to familiarize leaders with Climate YES policy and strategy documents, which will shape the organization’s work moving forward. This training was crucial for hubs that previously lacked a clear leadership structure, providing them with a comprehensive framework for their work.
Participants were expected to leave the gathering with a deeper understanding of the organization’s structure, policies, and strategic direction, leading to more effective action within their country hubs. The training also aimed to strengthen the vital link between the participants’ Christian faith and their engagement in climate action initiatives.
The ultimate goal of the event is to see the development and implementation of concrete action plans by the country hubs, translating the knowledge and strategic alignment gained at the gathering into tangible, on-the-ground initiatives for climate justice.
