Climate YES South Africa Hub – SACC Youth Month National Prayer Walk

On 27 June 2026, the South African Council of Churches (SACC) hosted a memorable and inspiring National Youth Prayer Walk and Youth-Led Service in commemoration of Youth Month. The event began with a prayer walk from the Hector Pieterson Museum to Grace Bible Church in Pimville, Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa, honouring the legacy of the 1976 youth while encouraging today’s generation to rise with courage, faith, and purpose.

The atmosphere throughout the day was uplifting, with powerful praise and worship bringing together young people from different communities in unity and celebration. Through prayer, worship, and inspiring messages, participants were reminded of the importance of faith, hope, healing, and taking an active role in shaping a better future for South Africa.


Delegates from Climate YES South Africa, Boipelo Mojapelo, Tshepo Mohapi, Nozwelo Radebe, Tlotliso Mangoenyane , Kelebogile Maketa, Mpotseng Thema, Bino Makhalanyane and Tumi, also attended and actively participated in this well-organised and enjoyable event. Their presence reflected the importance of collaboration between youth-led initiatives and organisations committed to creating positive change within communities.

The event was not only spiritually enriching but also offered opportunities for fellowship, networking, and meaningful conversations among young leaders. It served as a reminder that the youth of today continue to carry the responsibility of building on the legacy of those who marched for freedom and quality education in 1976.
