Climate YES Malawi hosted an ecumenical dialogue on the Thin Plastics Ban at Lake Malawi Anglican University (LAMAU) uniting passionate young Christians across diverse denominations to confront the nation’s severe plastic pollution crisis.

The summit successfully channeled spiritual conviction into strategic civic engagement. Participants underwent rigorous training focused on climate advocacy, mapping local power dynamics, and mastering the policy cycle. This capacity-building initiative equips a new generation of leaders to hold authorities accountable and push for the strict enforcement of Malawi’s national ban on thin plastics.

Proving that stewardship requires tangible effort, delegates rolled up their sleeves for an extensive community clean-up, clearing plastic waste across the university campus. This physical action served a dual purpose: demonstrating public commitment to the cause while building deep organisational unity through shared labor.

By breaking down denominational barriers, Climate YES Malawi has forged a resilient inter-faith alliance. These newly trained advocates are now taking their collective voice directly from the campus to local communities and national policymakers, ensuring that environmental legislation translates into lasting ecological restoration.
