Anglicans Ablaze is the biggest gathering of Anglicans from across Southern Africa, and in 2025, nearly 2,000 people came together in Durban!  Delegates arrived from South Africa, Lesotho, Namibia, and eSwatini, with strong representation from Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, and were supported by twenty bishops.

Climate YES South Africa had the privilege of partnering with the Green Anglicans team, who were present at three of their four exciting sessions that inspired, challenged, and
motivated people to live out their faith through caring for creation. Ms Abongile Mpu , a member of Climate YES South Africa based in Durban, gave an amazing talk on “Climate Advocacy: Youth and Environmental Ministry.” She challenged young people to speak up with a prophetic voice against environmental injustice, reminding us that faith and climate action are inextricably linked. Abongile explained how Ecotheology calls us to move from a human-centred mindset to a creation-centred one, seeing all of God’s creation as valuable. Linking her message to SDG 13 (Climate Action), she called for faith in action, not just words.

Afterwards, Bino Makhalanyane (Climate YES SA Co-coordinator) led a creative art session, where participants drew and wrote messages of hope and justice on doves, a symbol of peace, for the whole conference. Ms Refilwe Ferrelson, who’s also a Climate YES member from the Northern Cape ,participated in two grassroots panel discussions, where she expressed that young people are willing to learn and be active agents advocating against environmental injustices we come across on a daily, however the willingness dies down when they reach out to their respective parishes requesting assisting for projects they wish to embark on in the pursuit of caring for creation and raising awareness. She also highlighted the amazing work being done by Climate Yes, An ecumenical youth network taking climate advocacy to the next level
